Engine
components are cleaned using a high pressure cleaner, an acid tank, if necessary
and then put through our Bupi cleaning machine.
The crack
tester is used to detect cracks that the naked eye can not see. The process
ensures that any cracked engine components are found before they go through
the system. This picture illustrates how the cracks are detected. Iron based
fluorescent particles collect in the cracks and show up under ultra violet
light when the item is magnetised.
The block
machining department encompasses: Machining
of block decks, Reboring for oversize pistons, Resleeving bores back to standard
specification, Cutting counter bores & repairing parent bores, Sleeving of
seal areas, Sleeve inserts, Welding, Metal spraying, Crack testing
With our
line borer we are able to machine and repair main tunnels and camshaft tunnels
in blocks.
Every
crankshaft that passes through the workshop is crack tested, hardness tested
and checked for straightness prior to any machining being carried out. The finishing
polish is performed with high quality belts, designed to leave a specific finish
on the journals according to factory specifications. Apart from grinding cranks,
we can also straighten cranks, metalspray seal areas and repair damaged keyways.
We
use metal spray to repair corroded areas on cylinder heads, as well as various
other worn or damaged areas on blocks and many other components.
Motors
that arrive for reconditioning or remanufacturing are stripped down, cleaned
and quoted for repairs. The components are then moved to the various sections
for machining and once the machining has been completed and the parts have been
ordered, the engine is assembled by one of our qualified tradesmen. All complete
engines have the oil pressure tested and engines are bench tested and or Dyno
Tested. Here we perform our final checks in order to maintain our high quality
standard. Finally, engines are sprayed, painted and packaged for dispatch.

The
Complete Diagnostic System
With our
engine Dyno test cell we are able to measure engine power, torque and rpm
of a wide range of engines. Oil pressure, coolant temperature, exhaust temperature,
turbo boost pressure and other useful indicators are recorded. Engines are
run in using stages of increased torque settings according to the specific
engine specification. We make use of advanced engine testing software to produce
a power/torque curve report that is compared to the OEM engine specification
and is the ultimate test of true engine performance. Peace of mind is assured
when we are able to simulate typical workloads of engines before they are
fitted to the vehicle.Ê

All
conrods have the big ends and small ends checked for size and straightness.
New small end bushes are fitted and machined to exact specifications. We are
also able to proof test the small end to ensure that the new bush will not move
once the rod is fitted to the motor. Big ends that are out of size, oval shaped
or damaged in some way are honed or resized to bring them back to within the
specifications. After all of the machining is complete, the big end and small
end of the conrod are polished.
We have
a comprehensive range of machining services to ensure that all aspects of
engine remanufacturing are done with a complete and professional service.
Cylinder
Head Overhauling Our head section is fully equipped to overhaul a large range
of cylinder heads. Our modern machines and equipment make it possible to provide
a high quality job every time. All cylinder heads that come here for an overhaul
are hot and cold pressure tested before commencing any machining or repairs.
Once the head has been crack tested and approved for repairs, it is reconditioned
to manufacturers specifications. Upon completion, all heads go through a final
inspection stage in order to satisfy our quality control standards.
